Qinchuan is today's Changshu, Jiangsu Province. There is a poem that says, "Seven streams all lead to the sea, and ten miles of green hills enter the city." There are seven streams running in parallel in the city, just like the strings of the guqin, so it is called Qinchuan.
Changshu belonged to Huiji in Qin Dynasty and Haiyu County in Western Jin Dynasty.
