Yao Village is located in the hilly area northwest of Lanjiang Street, Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province, 5 kilometers away from the city.

Yao Village has a current population of more than 1,400. The ancient building area covers an area of ??75,500 square meters, and the ancient building construction area is about 18,000 square meters. There are 58 complete residential buildings, including 7 from the Ming Dynasty and 51 from the Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China.

The original appearance of the eight halls is basically intact.

The village faces east from the west, with a long stream in front of the village, and winding Longshan Mountain behind the village. Surrounded by mountains and water, the scenery is pleasant. There is a couplet of Yao's family temple and ancestral hall, which reads: "Shishan Mountain in the east, Xiangshan Mountain in the west, Sanfeng Mountain in the north; and Weixi River in front of the village.

Yaocun Village is located in the west facing east, with Shishan Mountain in the east, Xiangshan Mountain in the west, and Sanfeng Mountain in the north. There is Xingxi River in front and Huxi River in the back.

Yao Village, with Jingtou Mian as its center, is the Yao clan's largest public gathering place. It is also the area with the largest concentration, largest scale and best preservation of ancient buildings.

There are many alleys radiating outwards from the surroundings. The buildings are generally facing west and east, and the households are connected to each other, forming a long residential group.

An arcade is added along the alley to connect each building group. The roads are mainly made of bluestone, and tall fire walls are generally installed around the buildings.

Yaocun Village and Yingyue Village, Hejiangang Village, Lifan Village, Liantanggang Village, Shangdai Village, Houren Village, Shuidong Village, Waidong Village, Huangjia Village, Xinchen Village, Hualiuhuang Village, and Xinqiaoshan

Beicun, Hecun and Dalukou Village are adjacent to each other.

On January 16, 2019, Yaocun Village was selected as the 2018 Zhejiang Province Beautiful Rural Characteristic Boutique Village.

On August 26, 2013, Yaocun Village was included in the second batch of Chinese traditional villages.
