1. The 18th Street Mahua, the origin of the 18th Street Mahua, is a traditional snack.
Tianjin's century-old Mahua shop is known as one of the "Three Wonders of Tianjin" along with Goubuli steamed buns and Er'eryan fried cakes.
The big twists are as thick as an arm, and no one buys them except tourists. We Tianjin people like to buy the smaller ones, which are crispier and less burdensome to eat.
There are more than ten flavors such as hawthorn, black sesame, and salt and pepper. Each one is very unique. Personally, I like the salt and pepper the best. The twist has a sesame aroma and is crispy and delicious.
The taste has never changed, it's the same old taste I had when I was a kid.
2. Duliu Old Vinegar Duliu Old Vinegar is one of the three traditional famous vinegars in China. It is as famous as Shanxi mature vinegar and Zhenjiang rice vinegar. It has a history of more than 300 years and was a royal tribute in the Qing Dynasty.
