Garnet is a mineral, and its crystal is very similar to pomegranate seed in shape and color, hence the name "Garnet". Pomegranate stones with good color and high purity can become gems. Garnet, the English name of garnet, evolved from Latin "Granatum", which means "like a seed". The common garnet is red, but its color variety is very broad, covering almost the whole spectrum of colors. The common garnets are identified as six kinds because of their chemical composition, namely, Pyrope, Almandine, Spessartite, Andradite, Grossular and Uvarovite.
