On the seventh day of the first month of the first month, there is a local custom of eating seven dishes. Legend has it that the seventh day of the first month is a person's birthday. It is said that Nu Wa started the world, being a chicken on the first day, a dog on the second day, a pig on the third day, a sheep on the fourth day, a cow on the fifth day, a horse on the sixth day, and a person on the seventh day. Therefore, it is called Human Day.
People must eat a cake made of seven kinds of vegetables every day, and then eat seven kinds of vegetables directly without making those cakes. In Chaoshan area, seven kinds of dishes are cooked in a pot and eaten at noon, which is called seven kinds of soup. Before eating, the elders always say that the family is clean and white, the new year is rejuvenated, smart and hardworking, and everything is cost-effective.
There are no specific regulations on which of the seven dishes are, and most of them are Chinese cabbage, spring vegetables, kale and thick lotus produced in Chaoshan, and the number is unlimited. In fact, there is a certain scientific basis for people to eat seven kinds of vegetables every day. At this time, spring is coming, the weather is getting warmer, and vegetables are gradually increasing. Eating mixed vegetables can make the stomach adapt to the seasonal changes.
