I would like to ask how to raise the ornamental shrimp Chengao? Is it male and female?

Dioecious (except blue dragon shrimp, one can reproduce) male and female are distinguished~

If there are two pairs of gastropods between the third and fourth pairs of crayfish, If there is something hard and thorn-like (different from the length of the abdomen and legs), it is male. If there is none, it is female.

In addition, the claws of male shrimp are usually larger than those of female shrimps. When viewed from the side, the body part looks rounder and covered with slightly shorter ventral legs. The male shrimp has a slimmer body shape and looks longer. The ventral legs are obvious and the palps are also longer. (However, it needs to be long. To a degree, it is easier to see with the naked eye.) The suitable water temperature for survival is 4~32℃, the suitable water temperature for growth is 15~30℃, the optimal water temperature for growth is 20~28℃, and the lowest temperature that can be tolerated in the short term is 1~4℃. Normal growth can occur when the dissolved oxygen content reaches above 2 mg/L. The largest individual can reach 500 grams. However, artificial aquariums generally weigh 75-200 grams!

The food habit is more complex. They can eat fresh grass roots, humus, aquatic plankton and artificial compound feed! They only rely on fertilizer and water and regularly adding some fresh grass or tender grass into the water. You can also plant some aquatic plants! Although it is resistant to low oxygen, when the dissolved oxygen in the water reaches more than 4 mg/L, it is more conducive to increasing the growth rate.

It takes more than 6 months for shrimp to reach sexual maturity. If conditions are suitable, shrimp can carry eggs many times. After the eggs are laid, they will attach to the abdomen. At this time, the female shrimp is called an egg-bearing shrimp. The number of eggs held per time depends on the weight of the female shrimp, nutrition, environment, water quality, etc. A female shrimp weighing 50 grams can hold 300 to 400 eggs. A female shrimp weighing 100 grams can hold 400 to 600 eggs. After holding eggs, the female shrimp will use its swimming legs to fan the water to supply oxygen to the eggs, regardless of activity or feeding. When there is disturbance, the female shrimp immediately wraps her tail around the egg mass to prevent the eggs from being damaged. During the hatching and development of the eggs, the shrimp larvae undergo direct metamorphosis, that is, there is not much difference in appearance between the juvenile shrimp and the adult shrimp. The hatched shrimp larvae grow to juveniles and later to adults without going through the flea-like larval metamorphosis stage. Hatching takes 30 to 45 days. Poor water quality or interference during the hatching process will have an adverse effect on the female shrimp, but the biggest impact is the water temperature. When the water temperature is high, hatching is fast, but the constitution of the shrimp larvae is not very ideal; when the water temperature is low, hatching is slow, and it is easy to cause the eggs to shed and die. Shrimp hatching water temperature should be controlled at 25-30°C. Female shrimp have a milder temperament than male shrimp and have the habit of protecting shrimp seedlings. After hatching, the shrimp larvae live in the egg shell in the lower abdomen of the female shrimp for 7 to 12 days, protected by the female shrimp, and then leave the mother's body to move independently when they are slightly stronger. Shrimp can swim in all directions and crawl on the bottom of the water. The most popular sport for shrimp larvae is swimming. As the shrimp body increases, more movement is crawling. Shrimp have the instinct to avoid when the dissolved oxygen in the water is low, the light is strong, or other environmental conditions are unfavorable. For example, when the dissolved oxygen in the water is 1 mg/L, the shrimp crawls on the plants and exposes its head to the air to increase the dissolved oxygen in the gills and allow for breathing. Shrimp are more active at night than during the day and are evenly distributed. This activity period is from dusk to dawn and is mainly for feeding. According to this characteristic during breeding, more feed should be fed appropriately at dusk and night.

Ceramic pots can be placed in the tank for shrimps to hide. Add me on QQ and go to my space photo album to see my pets, including several kinds of crayfish
