Hello Huangyu, it belongs to the family Cyprinidae among fishes, and its scientific name is "Qinghai Lake Naked Carp". .

The Qinghai Lake naked carp belongs to the order Cypriniformes, family Cyprinidae, subfamily Schizothorax, and genus Naked Carp. Commonly known as: Huang fish, flower fish, pike, scaleless fish.

The body is long, slightly flattened laterally, the head is conical, the snout is blunt, the mouth is large, sub-inferior, and horseshoe-shaped. The upper jaw is slightly protruding and the front edge of the lower jaw has no sharp horn. The lower lip is thin, narrow and underdeveloped, divided into left and right lobes; the posterior labial groove is interrupted and far apart; there is no beard.

The body is naked, with 3-4 rows of irregular scales above the base of the pectoral fin and below the lateral line; there is one row of well-developed large scales on both sides of the anus and anal fin, reaching forward to the base of the pelvic fin, from the pelvic fin to The midline of the pectoral fin occasionally has traces of vestigial scales.

The lateral line is straight, the front end of the lateral line scales degenerates into a skinfold shape, and the posterior segment is even less obvious. The dorsal fin has well-developed spines with serrated back edges. The back of the body is yellow-brown or gray-brown, the abdomen is light yellow or gray-white, and there are large irregular dark spots on the sides of the body; each fin is light red.

During the reproductive period, male individuals have white granular beads on their snouts, anal fins, tail fins and the back of the body.

Years of man-made overfishing have caused a sharp decline in the number of yellowtail fish in Qinghai Lake. Due to global warming, atmospheric drought, reduced precipitation, and the water level of Qinghai Lake has dropped every year, the salt content and alkalinity have continued to rise. , the survival of Huangyu has been greatly affected. At present, the yellow fish resources in Qinghai Lake are less than one-tenth of what they were in the initial stage of development.

Since 1994, the Qinghai Provincial Government has carried out measures to close the lake for fish cultivation three times. In 2001, it ordered the fourth closure of Qinghai Lake for fish cultivation for a period of 10 years.

In Qinghai Lake, at the turn of spring and summer every year, the migration of yellowtail fish in the lake is a major event that the locals look forward to. It means that the eyes are full of yellow and the cold is tens of degrees below zero for several months. It has passed, and the earth will be green again. As the temperature gradually rises, the ice and snow gradually melt, the rainfall increases, and the amount of water flowing into the lake begins to increase. When the time comes to set off, the spawning broodstock in the lake begin to gather at the mouths of the major rivers around the lake, and then move upstream in groups toward their spawning holy land passed down from generation to generation.

At first, only a small number of fish were seen walking up and down the river. Then a large number of fish came up, and countless black spindle-shaped bodies and light yellow fins were instantly filled. The water in the river suddenly darkened, and it seemed as if the water in the river was no longer water, but Huang fish. They lined up in columns, passed through the rugged river bottom, and gathered in a relatively gentle place where the river water rested, accumulated strength, and prepared to face the difficulties and obstacles in the long journey ahead.

Huang fish is a fish unique to Qinghai Lake. "There are fish in the water, yellow in color and without scales..." This is the earliest record of Huang fish, which can be found in the "New Records of Xining Prefecture" during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The scale-less feature earned it the scientific name "Qinghai Lake Naked Carp". "Actually, there are sparse specialized scales on their anus, both sides of the anal fin and shoulder straps." 48-year-old Shi Jianquan is the director of the Qinghai Lake Naked Carp Rescue Center. He told us that the ancestors of the Huang River carp are the Yellow River carp. It was originally scaly. 130,000 years ago, Qinghai Lake became a closed lake due to geological movement, and later evolved into a saltwater lake. In order to adapt to the increasingly salty lake water, the scales of Yellow River carp gradually degraded.
