According to official website of Xinjiang Agricultural University, Xinjiang Agricultural University is located in Urumqi, which is a key agricultural institution of higher learning in the autonomous region. Its predecessor was Xinjiang Bayi Agricultural College founded by General Wang Zhen in 1952 with the consent of Chairman Mao and the Central Military Commission. It is the first undergraduate college established in Xinjiang after the founding of New China.
