Origin Medicinal Herbal Basis: It is the root of the dicotyledonous plant medicinal herb Syzygium family.
Latin Botanical and Animal Mineral Name: Adina rubella (Sieb. EtZucc.) Hance Harvesting and Storage: summer, fall digging the roots of perennial old plants, wash, slice fresh or sun-dried.
Original form of salicornia, deciduous small shrub, 1-1.5m high. branchlets slender, reddish brown, pilose; old branches glabrous. Leaves alternate: petiole very short or absent; stipules 2, opposite to leaves, triangular; leaves papery; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate or ovate-elliptic, 3-4cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, entire, dark green above, glabrous, light green below, lateral veins slightly whitish pilose. Heads globose, terminal or axillary, bloom 1.5-2cm in diameter; pedicel 2-3cm long, pilose; calyx brief, apex 5-lobed; corolla tubular, 5-10mm long, purplish-red or white, apex 5-lobed, lobes distally with black dots; stamens 5, filaments short; ovary inferior, 2-loculed, styles slender, exceeding the corolla more than 1x. Capsule cuneate, ca. 3 mm, purplish red at maturity, set into a globular shape. Seeds numerous, minute, long ellipsoid, winged at both ends. Flowering period June-July. Fruiting September-October.
