Can a tart be pronounced three times?

Egg tart can't be pronounced with three sounds.

In fact, dàn tǎ (蛋挞) is not pronounced dàn tǎ (蛋挞), but dàn tà (挞), according to the Chinese dictionary, which shows that there is only one pronunciation of tà (挞), and that there are other common words such as 鞭挞 (鞭挞) and 挞笞 (挞笞).

The reason why many people pronounce it three times may have something to do with the fact that what is known in Taiwan as "egg tart" has been spreading in movies and TV shows, but in fact it is a transliteration of the English word "Egg Tart," which is a kind of Western-style tart with an egg batter as the filling.

Origin of Egg Tart

The earliest Portuguese Egg Tart came from Andrew Stow, an Englishman who, after eating Pasteis de Nata, a traditional snack from the city of Belem, near Lisbon, in Portugal, decided to add his own twist to the traditional recipe, and so opened Andrew's Bakery on Coloane Island in Macau in 1989. Andrew's Bakery, where he created the popular Portuguese egg tarts using lard, flour, water and eggs, as well as British-style pastry practices.

While the tarts were Andrew's creation, their fame was due to the breakup of his marriage to his wife, Margaret, in 1996. Margaret left Andrew to start a new business, renamed the store "Margaret's", and a whirlwind of tarts ensued.
