Chubs eat rotifers, branchiae, and copepod baits.

The chub is impatient and good at jumping. Lives in the middle and upper layers of the water body. The growth rate of chub is faster than that of silver carp, and individuals of more than 10 kilograms can usually be seen in natural rivers and lakes and other water bodies. It is suitable for breeding in fertilized ponds. Under the condition of sufficient feed, 1-year-old fish can weigh 0.8 to 1 kilogram. The age of sexual maturity is the same or slightly earlier than that of grass carp.

The chub is suitable for breeding in fertilized water. It is also a large fish and can weigh 30 to 40 kilograms in natural rivers. In the low-temperature season, the appetite decreases, but it still feeds and mostly concentrates in the riverbed and deep lakes to overwinter.

The bighead carp, also known as chub, hemp chub, black chub, big head chub, fat head chub, big brain fish, fat head fish, etc., is a kind of carp family in the order Carpiformes of the order Spoke-finned fish. Adult bighead carp are generally about 60 centimeters in length and weigh about 15 to 19 kilograms, with the largest individual reaching 60 kilograms. The bighead carp has a laterally flattened body and a large head, so it is also known as the big head fish and fat head fish.

The eyes are located in the lower part of the head, the back is dark black with irregular dark patches, the belly is grayish white and rounded, and the caudal fin is forked.
