Reed with reed leaves (Latin name: Thysanolaena Maxima (Roxb.) Kuntze), also known as wild grass (Hainan) and grass with reed leaves (Yunnan). Monocotyledons, angiosperms, perennial, tufted herbs. Erect and stout, hard, truncated, leaf blade lanceolate, with transverse veins, tapering at the top, heart-shaped at the base, and stipitate. There are two flowering and fruiting periods in spring, summer or autumn. Stalks can be used as fences or paper making, leaves can be wrapped in zongzi, inflorescences can be used as brooms, and cultivated for greening and ornamental purposes.
Born on hillsides, valleys or under trees and bushes, mainly in Taiwan Province, Guangdong, Guangxi and Guizhou. Root: sweet, cool. Clearing heat and promoting diuresis, relieving cough and asthma. Used for diarrhea, infantile dyspepsia, asthma, wind-heat cough.
