Gnard is the general name of the genus pygmy fish, which belongs to the family teleosteidae. There are about 20 kinds. Their body length can reach 300 mm, and they are ruddy in color, slender in shape and quite feminine, so they are called red snapper. Small and medium-sized benthic fishes inhabit the sea area with sediments in warm coastal waters, and can crawl on the seabed with the free fins of pectoral fins, most of which live in the water depth of about 67 ~ 70 meters. Distributed in tropical and warm temperate waters of Indian Ocean-Western Pacific. Also found in the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean. It is the main target of trawling in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea of China.
