The city is located in the southern edge of Sichuan Basin, where Yongning River, Chishui River, Tuojiang River and Yangtze River meet. Geographical coordinates are between 27 39 ′-29 20 ′ north latitude and105 8 ′-106 28 ′ east longitude. The length from north to south is 184.84 km, and the width from east to west is 12 1.64 km.
