What can't I eat after eating shrimp?
Many people have heard that you can't eat fruit when eating shrimp, and you can't eat vitamin C tablets when eating seafood ... Although the reason is unclear, everyone has heard a serious warning: this combination will be poisoned! The theory is that seafood is often polluted, which is rich in arsenic. Originally, pentavalent arsenic is less toxic, but if it is reduced to trivalent arsenic by a reducing agent such as vitamin C, that is, arsenic (arsenic trioxide), the toxicity rises sharply, so there is a danger of poisoning. However, there are many people who argue confusedly at the same time: now, after the banquet, fruits must be served! I ate seafood and fruit, and I wasn't poisoned! Why is this? It turns out that there are four preconditions for violating taboos to cause serious harm: first, aquatic products do come from arsenic-polluted environment. In addition to shrimp, there are crayfish, mussels, oysters, clams, crabs, etc., and all kinds of aquatic products are in danger of being polluted and enriched with arsenic. If aquatic products come from water with little pollution, they will not contain a lot of arsenic, so there is no such taboo. Second, the intake of polluted seafood is indeed relatively large, and the total amount of arsenic in it reaches a value enough to cause poisoning. If you eat crabs like Lin Daiyu, you will not see obvious harm if you eat a little. Third, the content of vitamin C and other reducing substances in fruits is high enough to be eaten in large quantities. If only half an apple and a few bananas contain a little vitamin C, it is not enough to reduce and produce a lot of trivalent arsenic. In contrast, the content of vitamin C tablets is much higher, so the risk is greater. Fourth, vitamin C tablets are taken shortly before and after eating seafood. If you take pills for breakfast and eat shrimp at night, the risk will become smaller because most of the vitamin C in the body has been metabolized. In a word, the danger of eating seafood and vitamin C together is a quantitative problem. It depends on the pollution of aquatic products, the amount of seafood eaten and the amount of vitamin C. The LD50 of arsenic is lower than15mg/kg, and it is generally believed that arsenic with100 ~ 200mg is fatal. However, the arsenic content standard of fish in China is 0. 1 mg/kg, that is to say, if you eat qualified aquatic products, even if you eat 10 kg, there will be no acute poisoning problem. At present, the frequent occurrence of arsenic poisoning caused by seafood can only prove that the seafood on the table has been seriously polluted, which exceeds the national standard by hundreds of times! On the other hand, if you don't eat with vitamin C, are seafood and seafood safe enough? The answer is obviously no. At the level where arsenic content may bring danger, this kind of food is no longer suitable for human beings. Pentavalent arsenic itself is toxic, but the toxicity is less than one tenth of arsenic. Chronic arsenic poisoning may cause a variety of cancers and damage organs, and its harm cannot be ignored; Moreover, these polluted aquatic products are likely to contain other pollutants from sewage, such as mercury, cadmium, lead, organochlorine, polychlorinated biphenyls, and many other chemical pollutants. I really don't know why there are so many diners who go wave after wave and taste such food with relish, just satisfied with the safety of "not being hospitalized immediately due to arsenic poisoning"! No one can say that environmental protection has nothing to do with himself. Where do the food ingredients on the table come from and who can control them? Environmental pollution, everyone suffers! Personally, I recommend that if you can't feel at ease about the environmental quality of the products, you should not eat more than one kind of seafood every day, and the quantity should not exceed100g. Fiber in vegetables and coarse grains can promote the discharge of heavy metals, so it is suitable for eating together. It is still a bottom line safety suggestion not to take vitamin C tablets after eating these foods. In addition, it should be noted that seafood is mostly cold, and people with weak stomach need to eat less. After eating a lot of aquatic products, eating a lot of cold fruits is easy to cause diarrhea and abdominal pain for some people. This has nothing to do with arsenic pollution.
