Chinese cabbage, with tender stems as edible organs, is a variety of Chinese cabbage. The suitable temperature for seed germination is 24 ~ 26℃, and at this temperature, seedlings can emerge in 4 ~ 6 days. If the seeds are treated at low temperature (3 ~ 15℃) after germination, the vernalization period can be passed. Therefore, late-maturing varieties should be selected when sowing in winter and spring, and cold protection should be done to prevent early bolting.

Sowing can be carried out at all times except1~ February in the Yangtze River Basin, and throughout the year in South China. When sowing in early spring, it is advisable to choose Gao Qian plot with abundant sunshine and organic matter as seedbed, and choose sunny and warm weather or sowing at the end of cold wave; When sowing in high temperature and rainy season in summer and autumn, it is necessary to cover the seedbed with sunshade net or straw to cool it, so as to avoid hardening of seedbed caused by heavy rain.
