The capital, Nuku'alofa, is located on the largest island, Tonga Tabu. It has a land area of 747 square kilometers and a marine exclusive economic zone of 700,000 square kilometers.

Tonga has characteristic historical and cultural traditions and tourism resources, but the development capacity is limited and the tourism industry has not yet achieved rapid development.

There are more than 110 hotels, motels and inns in the country***, with more than 1,100 rooms.The total number of foreign tourists coming to Tonga in 2016 was about 87,000, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%, of which about 3,300 were Chinese tourists.
