[Source] is the bark or root bark of Magnolia officinalis of Magnoliaceae Rehd. Etwils or Magnolia officinalis M. Biloba (Rehd. et wils.) Cheng.
[Sexual taste] Bitter, pungent and warm.
[Efficacy] Broaden the middle, regulate qi, remove dampness and relieve depression.
[Ingredients] Contains volatile oil, magnolol, tetrahydromagnolol, isomagnolol, magnolol, etc.
[Pharmacology] It has anti-phage effect; It has inhibitory effect on tumor cells in vitro. It can excite the intestinal tract of guinea pigs in a small dose and inhibit it in a large dose, and has an exciting effect on bronchial smooth muscle. It also has antihypertensive effect.
[Should be used] (1) is used for gastrointestinal tumors with spleen and stomach deficiency and cold, disorganized transportation and stagnation of phlegm and qi, with symptoms of distention and tightness in the chest, dull pain in the abdomen, loose stool's bowel sounds, anorexia, vomiting and spitting, etc. It is often used in combination with Fructus Aurantii, Atractylodis Rhizoma, Poria, Fructus Citri Tangerinae and so on.
