Four consciousnesses refer to: political consciousness, overall situation consciousness, core consciousness and integration consciousness. This was first put forward at the the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee meeting on October 29th, 2006/KLOC-0.

Strengthen the ideological connotation of the four consciousnesses;

1. Enhance political awareness, that is, all party member must firmly adhere to the correct political direction, always maintain a high degree of political consistency with the CPC Central Committee, and uphold the party's political attributes; Strengthen the party's political stance; Strengthen the party's ideals and beliefs; Adhere to the party's political status; Strictly abide by the party's political discipline and rules.

2. To enhance the overall awareness means that all party member must establish a correct concept of the overall situation, grasp the overall situation and central work of the Party, think and deal with problems from the overall situation of the Party and the country, consciously understand, obey and safeguard the overall situation, and unswervingly implement the central decision-making arrangements.

3. Enhance the core consciousness, that is, all party member must unswervingly safeguard, develop and consolidate the party's leading core position in the development of the national cause, and resolutely achieve two safeguards.

4. Enhance the awareness of conformity, that is, all party member must consciously and actively set strict demands on themselves with high standards, obey the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the Party's decision-making, keep pace, be consistent in standards, and never deviate.
