1, softening and plasticizing;
2, as an external lubricant;
3. It is beneficial to the full diffusion of carbon black, white carbon black and zinc oxide;
4. The reaction with zinc oxide or alkaline accelerator can promote its activity, and it is also the main vulcanization accelerator, which can play the role of the second accelerator.
The high acid value of lauric acid will greatly delay the vulcanization of rubber.
Lauric acid, also known as dodecanoic acid, is a saturated fatty acid. Its molecular formula is C 12H24O2. Although it is called lauric acid, it only accounts for 1-3% of laurel oil content. At present, it is found that the vegetable oils with high lauric acid content are coconut oil 45-52%, palm kernel oil 44-52%, and [babasu nut] 43-44-44%.
Although lauric acid is a saturated fatty acid, its cardiovascular disease risk is lower than other saturated fatty acids.
Use of lauric acid
1, mainly used as raw materials for producing alkyd resin, wetting agent, detergent, pesticide, surfactant, food additive and cosmetics. This product is often used as lubricant, which has many functions such as lubricant and vulcanizing agent. However, it is generally not used in plastic products such as wires and cables because of its corrosive effect on metals. This product is widely used in surfactant industry, as well as perfume industry and pharmaceutical industry.
2, as a surface treatment agent for bonding. It is also used to manufacture alkyd resin, chemical fiber oil agent, insecticide, synthetic perfume, plastic stabilizer, anti-corrosion additive for gasoline and lubricating oil. A large number of surfactants are used to manufacture various types, for example, cationic surfactants such as laurylamine, dodecanitrile, myristylamine, lauryl dimethylamine, lauryl trimethyl ammonium salt and so on. Anionic type includes sodium dodecyl sulfate, lauric acid sulfate, triethanolamine dodecyl sulfate, etc. Zwitterionic types include lauryl betaine, lauryl imidazoline, etc. Nonionic surfactants include poly (L- alcohol monolaurate), polyoxyethylene laurate, glyceryl laurate polyoxyethylene ether, lauric diethanolamide, etc. In addition, it is also used as food additives and cosmetics.
3. Lauric acid is the raw material for producing soap, detergent, cosmetic surfactant and chemical fiber oil.
