Reproduction characteristics: Crayfish can reproduce all year round, with the peak period from May to September. The reproduction of crayfish is quite special. Most of the reproduction process is completed in caves, so it is difficult to see egg-bearing shrimp in normal production. It takes 2 to 5 months after mating for the ovaries to finally mature and undergo ovulation and fertilization. The fertilized eggs are purple in color and adhere to the bristles of the swimming limbs on the abdomen. The egg-bearing shrimp often places its abdomen close to the hole to collect water to keep the eggs moist. The number of eggs carried by crayfish is relatively small, usually between 100 and 700 eggs, with an average of 300 eggs. The incubation time of eggs is 14 to 24 days. During the development period, crayfish larvae do not require any external nutritional supply. The newly hatched larvae need to stay in the abdomen of the parent shrimp for about 10 days before breaking away from the mother. If conditions are not suitable, they can survive in caves without eating or drinking for several weeks. When the pond is filled with water, the larvae and broodstock gradually crawl out of the caves and are naturally distributed in the pond.
