Third, the difference between field events and track events

The events in track and field that calculate results in terms of time are called track events; the events that calculate results in terms of height or distance are called field events.

A Brief Introduction to the Field Events:

The field events are a kind of track and field sports, which is a collective name for jumping and throwing events in the prescribed area of the track and field stadium and is divided into jumping and throwing, of which the jumping events are: high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault; and throwing events are: shot put, discus, javelin throw, and chain shot, etc. The field events are divided into jumping and throwing. The height or distance is used to calculate the score and determine the ranking.

In the various competitions of the field events, if the number of participants is too large, a passing competition may be held first, and those who reach the passing standard will participate in the official competition. If the number of participants in the distance events (throwing and long jump) is more than 8, each person will first try to throw or jump 3 times, and then 8 people will be selected, each person will try to throw (jump) again for 3 times, and then the best of the 6 times will be the result of the competition and the ranking will be determined accordingly.

For the official competition of height events (high jump), the referee will first announce the plan for the height of the jump and the elevation of the horizontal bar, and the athletes will be allowed to make 3 attempts for each height, and the athletes will be allowed to choose the height of the jump (not lower than the specified height) and can make "no jump" for any height. If an athlete fails 3 times in a row in a trial jump, he/she cannot continue the competition. The highest score of the trial jump will be the score of the competition and the ranking will be based on it.

In all field events, athletes must complete their throws or jumps within the time limit, failing which they will be considered as a failure and will not be allowed to continue in the competition if there is a further delay (previous results are valid). For the measurement of distance or height, except for discus, javelin and streak, which are measured in 2 centimeters as the smallest unit of measurement (e.g., 60.23 meters is counted as 60.22 meters), the smallest unit of measurement for all other events is 1 centimeter.

Second, the track event introduction

The marathon running because of the competition environment around the big difference, so only the best results, not set the Olympic record. In the track events, if the number of participants is large, can be held first preliminaries, the second race and the final eight people to participate in the final, to the final results as the final determination of the ranking of the results.

Track races must be run in counterclockwise (i.e., left-handed near the inside circle). The number of lanes (or starting positions) will be determined by drawing lots. The starter must be used for the first start of lane running events and relays (not allowed for all other track events, which use three signals: "all in position", "ready" and the gun, and only "all in position" is used for some of the lane running events and non-lane running events). The only signal used for some of the lane running and non-lane running events is "all in position", followed by the firing of the gun.

One foul at the start is a disqualification (two fouls in an all-around race is a disqualification). Squeezing or blocking others in the run-in is a disqualification. Athletes who should run in the lanes but are not directly forced by others to run out of the lanes and athletes who receive assistance from others during the race (accompanying, providing or guiding), and who commit the same offense again after being warned, shall be disqualified.

The order of places in each race to reach the finish line is based on the sequence of any part of the athlete's torso (excluding head, neck, arms, hands, legs and feet) touching the vertical plane along the inside of the finish line, and the time is taken as the time.
