Practical value of vetches
It is used for pasture and vegetables. The seeds contain oil. The leaves, flowers and fruits are used medicinally to clear away heat, reduce inflammation and detoxify. The plants are beautiful and the flowers are brightly colored and can be used as ornamental flowers.

Feeding value

The stems and branches of vetch are soft and have good palatability. Its nutritional content has been analyzed by the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units. The results are shown in Table 75-2. The budding stage of vetch appears early, when there are few branches, the stems are low, tender and soft, its nutritional content, crude protein, is as high as 26.9%, and the grass yield is also high at this time. After the beginning of spring, as the temperature rises, the plants begin to grow rapidly. On April 14, they enter the pod-bearing stage. The plants are 83.5cm tall. Although the stems and leaves are still green, the yield of cutting grass at this time is high, but the nutritional content is not. Reduced, crude fiber increased, and crude protein decreased to 18.55%. Judging from the branches of the plant, the number of branches during the fruiting stage during autumn sowing can reach 30-40, while during spring sowing there are only about 20 branches during the fruiting stage. Therefore, the most suitable harvesting period should be during the pod-bearing period, which is about 20 days earlier than that of plants of the same genus. This is promoted in southern rice areas and is very beneficial to alleviating the contradiction between previous and previous crops. Promoting it in dry farming areas in southern my country can still solve the contradiction between harvest and pasture; therefore, vetch is expected to be cultivated into a new green manure variety promoted in southern farmlands. The stems and leaves of vetch are rich in calcium and phosphorus and are used as green forage, silage and hay preparation.
