This prescription is based on the Poria Sini Decoction in "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" + Guizhi.
Original text of "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" (69): If sweating occurs, the disease is still unresolved, and the patient is irritable, Fuling Sini Decoction is the treatment.
Original recipe of Poria Sini Decoction: 4 liang of Poria cocos, 1 liang of ginseng (codonopsis pilosula and ginseng were not distinguished at that time), 1 liang of aconite, 2 liang of licorice (broiled), and 1 and 2 halves of dried ginger.
Modern times believe that this prescription has the effect of restoring yang and replenishing yin, and is mainly used for irritability due to both yin and yang deficiency. The prescriber may think that the patient still has unresolved symptoms, so she adds cinnamon twig to help warm the meridians, dispel wind and relieve muscles.
