Guizhou hickory; Tokyo wild lily; One of the five tree species of Carya illinoensis is Carya illinoensis, which is suitable for tropical planting and has great economic value. Carya illinoensis originated in the southern United States and western Mexico, and was introduced to China at the end of 19, with sporadic cultivation in Fujian and Hainan Island. Carya illinoensis has thin shell, fat kernel, delicious and high quality, and high nutritional value. Under suitable conditions, the annual output of adult trees can reach 70 ~ 80 kg, and the single tree can reach 100 ~ 250 kg.
Deciduous tree with completely split bark, dark brown. Odd pinnate compound leaves, 9 ~ 17 pairs of leaflets, oblong-lanceolate or oblong, single or double serrate, glandular hairy when young, glabrous after shedding. Flowers are unisexual and monoecious. The male flowers are usually in three clusters, and the female flowers are 2 ~ 10 or have spikes at the top of new branches. The fruit is oval with a smooth and thin shell. When ripe, the exocarp (involucre) naturally splits into four petals, and the stone falls off by itself. The kernel rate is 46% ~ 53%. Seedling propagation generally takes 12 ~ 15 years, and grafting propagation takes 5 ~ 6 years to bear fruit. After 15 years, it reaches the full fruit stage, and the full fruit stage is 25 ~ 80 years. Carya illinoensis likes to be warm and humid, which is suitable for areas with annual average temperature 15 ~ 20℃, July average temperature 25 ~ 30℃, June average temperature 1.08+00℃ and annual rainfall1000 ~ 2000 mm. It is not dry and barren, and it is required to be deep and rich in humus.
