Morphological Characteristics:
Biennial or perennial herb, about 60-150 cm tall. Lower leaves large, lyrate-pinnatipartite, up to 40 cm long, with colored veins, petiolate; apical lobes large, apically rounded, base crookedly cordate, margins undulate, crenulate, apical lobes 3-5 pairs, obovate, upper leaves oblong, entire, amplexicaul, all leaves fleshy, glabrous, glaucous.
Racemes up to 30 cm or longer in fruit; flowers pale yellow, 10-15 mm in diameter; sepals oblong, erect, 8-11 mm long; petals obovate, 15-20 mm long, apically rounded, clawed. Long-horned fruit cylindrical, 5-10 cm long; beak 5-10 mm long, seedless; fruiting pedicel ca. 2 cm long; seeds globose, ca. 2 mm in diameter, gray-brown.
