Fangcheng Port is located on the north shore of Beibu Gulf in southern Guangxi. It is the deep-water seaport at the southernmost point of mainland China's coastline and one of the 19 hub ports in the country.
Fangchenggang has unique geographical location and geographical conditions. The harbor is deep, sheltered from the wind, the channel is short and free of siltation, the city and land are wide, and the usable coastline is long. The port is located in the center of Southwest China and Southeast Asia, backed by the economic hinterland of Southwest China; to the west is Vietnam, adjacent to Guangdong, Qiong, Australia and Southeast Asia. It is the most convenient sea passage from Southwest China to Southeast Asia and the world. In 1983, after Fangcheng Port was listed as an open port by the State Council, the pace of port construction continued to accelerate. Since it was fully put into operation in 1987, the port throughput has increased year by year. In 1998, the throughput exceeded 7 million tons. Currently, Fangcheng Port has 28 berths, including 14 deep-water berths over 10,000 tons; the annual throughput capacity of special container berths is 250,000 TEUs, and the actual annual throughput capacity of the port exceeds 25 million tons. It is one of the 20 main hub ports along the coast of my country. , responsible for the main transshipment tasks of goods in and out of southwest and central-south regions of my country.
Since Fangcheng Port opened to the outside world, it has had trade relations with 230 ports in 80 countries and regions, and has opened container routes to South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and other parts of the world via Hong Kong. , the passenger and cargo ro-ro route to Hainan has also been opened. At present, a foreign trade export transfer base for grain, fertilizer, cement, ore, coal, chemicals, etc. has been built.
In 2004, the city's cargo throughput was nearly 20 million tons, of which Fangcheng Port handled more than 16 million tons. With the putting into use of Fangcheng Port's 200,000-ton pier and the acceleration of the construction of 10,000-ton berths No. 13-17, the port's annual comprehensive throughput capacity is expected to reach 60 million tons in the next five years, and the port's core competitiveness will be further improved.
