Dear friend, you have found a turtle. Help me see what kind it is and how to raise it.
Leopard turtle, a beautiful and noble turtle species, has a towering shell and unpredictable patterns, which makes many people fall in love with him, but leopard turtle is not a good turtle species. I'm here to introduce some experiences in raising leopard turtles.

Let me first introduce the breeding environment of leopard turtles in general in China. Because leopard turtles grow faster, they should be as big as possible when making breeding boxes for them. The best breeding environment is more than ten times the size of the individual. The air circulation in the feeding environment is also good, and the dust should not be too big. Poor ventilation or too much dust can easily cause respiratory tract infection of leopard turtles. I recommend ceramic tile counterattack. The advantages are less dust, easy cleaning, and polishing nails for turtles. It is best to have only a small pot of plants in the breeding environment, because leopard turtles are very active and need very large space for activities. Too many furnishings in it will minimize his activity space. The height of the feeding box should be designed according to the type of UVB lamp you choose. If you choose UVB lamp, the recommended height is 40 cm, and if you choose energy-saving lamp, the recommended height is 50 cm. This height allows turtles to fully absorb UVB. Of course, sunbathing is always much better than UVB when conditions permit, even if it is separated by a layer of glass, so I will definitely take them sunbathing in summer and when the weather is warm.

Leopard turtles grow in hot and dry areas of Africa, where there is almost only one season in a year, so leopard turtles can't hibernate. The optimum feeding temperature is about 32 degrees during the day and 28 degrees at night, and the shooting temperature depends on the size of the turtle. If your individual is below 15 cm, it is recommended that the temperature of the shooting point should not exceed 35 degrees. If it is above 15 cm, the temperature of the shooting point can be controlled at 35 degrees.

Because leopard turtles live in arid areas, the requirements for humidity are also very strict. The humidity should not be too high, and 40-50 is the best. Too high humidity will cause their gastrointestinal problems, but too low humidity will also make them feel uncomfortable.

Similarly, the leopard turtle's requirements for food are also foods with less water and more crude fiber, such as cabbage, Chinese cabbage and other vegetables. It would be great if we could find enough forage. For example, lettuce and lettuce should not be given to leopard turtles. Too much water can cause problems in their stomachs, leading to diarrhea and other symptoms. Tortoise food should be accepted by leopard turtles as much as possible. Leopard turtles are very picky. Neither of my two leopard turtles accepts turtle food, but it has many benefits for him to accept turtle food. My leopard turtle likes eating turtle food now. For example, I have to feed calcium powder and vitamins once a week, which are easily eaten by turtles when sprinkled on turtle food. If there are symptoms of diarrhea, eating turtle food will also help their gastrointestinal recovery.

As for bathing, I don't bathe leopard turtles every day, because leopard turtles can't get stones easily. In winter with low humidity, I usually put them aside for two days. In summer, because the north is humid, I may only give him a bath once a week.

These are my views on leopard turtle breeding. If I think of anything, I will add it. I wish everyone a healthy and happy tortoise! ! !
