Early in 1945, the Allies began their final assault on both the Eastern and Western fronts. By this time Germany's domestic resource shortages were at their limit, and almost all new vehicles from the factory were only available in a dark yellow base color with no other camouflage or trim.

Most of the armored divisions were down to just one establishment, with only a dozen tanks in a division. It was pointless to meticulously paint under these circumstances, and the average outfit would be reimbursed after just a few weeks. Anti? magnetic paint ceased to be used much by the end of 1944, so very few vehicles produced in 1945 can be seen with anti-magnetic paint.
