When in danger, they will attack each other with powerful claws. After the river thaws in spring, the shell usually lasts for a week. In April and May, females will lay eggs in the abdomen, and they will be firmly protected with their abdominal feet until they hatch.
Gryllotalps like running water, so they need to keep the water clean and flowing, and they are strict with the water source. In the field outflow experiment, there were cases that survived after release. Unlike crayfish, crickets are very sensitive to environmental changes, and crickets caught in the wild basically do not eat in fish tanks, so they do not have artificial feeding conditions.
Extended data:
The shrew lives in the river and looks like a lobster in the sea, but its tail is very long, the proportion of head to tail is equal, and there are a pair of big pliers in front of its head. Male shrews have very strong claws, while female shrews are slightly smaller.
The living conditions of the mole cricket are almost harsh, and any pollution will lead to its death and extinction, and it is particularly sensitive to chemical pesticides and fertilizers. China has a vast sea area, many rivers and lakes, and is rich in freshwater shrimp.
However, due to the harsh requirements for the living environment, human intervention and the use of pesticides, shrews are on the verge of extinction. Among the four species of shrews in China, there are only three species in a few streams in northern Liaoning, Changbai Mountain in Jilin, Daxinganling in Heilongjiang and Hulunbeier.
