Propagation and cultivation: Generally, the original seeds are propagated by sowing, and horticultural varieties are often propagated by grafting. Harvest the fruit when it is ripe in autumn, dry it and remove its wings, then sow it in autumn or hide it until the next spring. The row spacing of drilling holes is 1 .5 ~ 20cm, and the covering thickness is about1cm. The sowing amount per mu is 4 ~ 5 kg. Seedlings are afraid of the sun and need proper shade. The height of the seedlings is 30 ~ 50 cm. Transplanting should be carried out during the dormancy period of deciduous leaves. Small seedlings can move with bare roots, and big seedlings should move with soil balls. Grafting can be done by cutting, butting and budding, and the rootstock is generally 3-4-year-old Acer truncatum seedlings. Cutting should be carried out in March and April when the rootstock buds swell, and it is best to cut the rootstock 50~80cm off the ground when grafting is high, so that the new shoots can be pulled up more than 50 ~ 80 cm in that year. Although docking is troublesome, it is easy to ensure survival. According to Nanjing's experience, bud grafting takes place in May and June.
Landscape use: Acer truncatum leaves are beautiful, and turn bright red, flowery and bright as clouds after autumn. It is an excellent foliage tree species. It is very suitable for planting on lawns, mounds, streams, Chi Pan and road corners, walls, pavilions and rocks. It is especially beautiful if it is set on an evergreen tree or a white wall. It is also elegant to make bonsai or potted plants for indoor beautification.
