Homemade vanilla essence can be made from the best ingredients, without additives, and aged naturally. The purity and taste are excellent, and the cost is greatly reduced.
It is very simple to make homemade vanilla extract. The concentration can be adjusted according to personal preference, making it full of fun. Although it is not as strong as commercially available products, its taste is more delicious. It doesn’t matter which wine you choose to make it with, it’s more a matter of personal preference. The ingredients can be vodka, rum, brandy, as long as it is a spirit above 38 degrees.
The ratio of vanilla pods to wine can be 1:8. For example: vanilla 4g, wine 32ml
Preparation method: cut the pods in the direction of growth to expose the vanilla seeds. Do not cut the two ends completely, they can remain as they are. Place the pods into the bottle of wine. Store in a cool, dark place, such as a cupboard, around. Just shake the bottle a few times a week. Be sure not to put it in the refrigerator. Once you start using it, you can add wine to the bottle regularly to keep it full. Eventually, these pods will lose their power, but they will still have a scent for several months. They can be washed, dried and placed in a cupboard or wardrobe as a flavoring agent, or they can be placed in granulated sugar to continue making vanilla sugar.
Note:
1. When purchasing vanilla beans, choose ones that look shiny, black, plump, and elastic when pinched. It feels a bit like raisins. If it is too dry and hard, it means it has been stored for a long time and has become dehydrated.
2. To store vanilla, please put it in a sealed box or bottle and wrap it in tin foil. Place in a dark, dry environment. Be sure not to put it in the refrigerator, as it will cause mold.
3. The concentration of homemade vanilla essence is lower. When using it, a few drops of vanilla essence according to some recipes is obviously not enough. Use at least 1-2 tablespoons. Therefore, the dosage of other liquids should be adjusted appropriately.
