Tiramisu originates from Italy.
Tiramisu, known in English as Tiramisu, meaning Take Me Now, is one of the most iconic Italian desserts. Its place of origin is in Italy around the northwest of Venice. There are many different stories about the origin of Tiramisu, one of the most widely spread is a cozy legend from the World War II period.
During World War II, an Italian soldier was about to go to the battlefield, and his wife, in order to prepare dry rations for him, made all the edible cookies and breads in the house into a pastry and mixed them with cocoa powder, hoping that this pastry would be a spiritual support for her husband on the battlefield. This pastry is what we know today as Tiramisu.
However, the history of tiramisu dates back to the 17th century with a northwestern Italian dessert called ZuppadelDuca or known as ZuppaInglese. Although true tiramisu only began to appear in the 1960s along the northwestern part of Venice, Italy, its historical roots go back hundreds of years.
