When tasting wine, the way the wine is drunk will directly affect the flavor of the wine, so you need to know how to drink white wine before drinking it.
Not to mention the sweltering summer heat, even in winter you may want to chill white wine. This is because the acid is the backbone of white wine, and the aromas (floral, fruity, etc.) are its flesh. Cooler temperatures emphasize the acidity in the wine, making it more tart and refreshing on the palate. However, white wine can not be overly chilled, the temperature is too low, the wine will be closed to the aroma, less "flesh", only "skeleton", the wine will not be good to drink.
In general, different types of white wines have different drinking temperatures, as follows:
Light/medium-bodied dry white wines: such as Sauvignon Blanc (Sauvignojn Blanc), Unoaked Chardonnay (Unoaked Chardonnay), Riesling, Pinot Grigio. Unoaked Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, etc. These dry white wines are light-bodied and fresh, with a fresher, more elegant aroma, and can be served chilled to 7-10 degrees Celsius to emphasize its mouth-watering acidity.
Heavy-bodied dry white wines: such as Oaked Chardonnay, Oaked Semillon and Oaked White Rioja. These dry white wines are generally round and full-bodied, with rich and complex aromas. In order not to close off the aromas in the wine, the drinking temperature should be higher, and it can be slightly chilled to 10-13℃.
Sweet white wines: such as Sauternes, Ice Wine/Eiswein, Tokaji Aszu, etc. These sweet white wines are generally full-bodied and rich in flavor and aroma. These sweet white wines are generally rich, full-bodied and complex in aroma; they are also very sweet. Acidity and sweetness are opposites; the higher the acidity, the less sweetness is perceived, and vice versa. Therefore, the drinking temperature of sweet white wines should not be too low, no matter from the consideration of the fullness of sweet white wines, or from the consideration of their acid-sweet balance, sweet white wines should not be too low. In general, the drinking temperature of sweet white wine is 8-12 ℃.
There are also sparkling wines. Most sparkling wines are white, including Champagne, Cava, Asti DOCG, etc., and one of their obvious characteristics is high acidity. Low temperatures help to accentuate the acidity of sparkling wines, making them tart, exciting and appetizing. But the most important thing in a sparkling wine is the bubbles, and the higher the temperature, the more bubbles are released. Generally speaking, the drinking temperature of sparkling wine is 6-10℃.
Three, white wine drinking precautions
1, in the wine into Sprite, Coke and other carbonated drinks is not correct. This on the one hand destroys the original pure fruit flavor, on the other hand also due to a large number of sugar and gas added to affect the original nutrition and efficacy.
2, with ice drinking is also incorrect. Because the wine is diluted after adding ice, it is not suitable for consumers who have too much acid in the stomach and ulcer disease.
3. White wine tastes better when chilled.
