The tortoise with the longest life span is 176 years old. It is a huge Galapagos tortoise named Harriet, so its life span is related to its living environment. Different turtles live at different ages, but generally speaking, turtles can live for decades, and the old age may reach one or two hundred years.
Extended data
The annual rings of turtles are clear before 10 age. Shortly after the birth of young turtles, there are some radial lines on the outer hard skin of the shield in the center of the dorsal shell, and there are no round wheels. There are several rims on the back of a turtle, and the turtle is a few years old. The older it is, the harder it is to identify it with the naked eye.
With the periodic change of nature, the tortoise has obvious growth period and hibernation period. In the growth period, the carapace grows like the body, forming a loose and wide concentric ring. In the hibernation period, the tortoise enters a dormant state and stops growing, and the carapace almost stops growing, forming a narrow and tight concentric ring.
