On May 27, 1987, the county government blindly allocated money to farmers without market estimates and asked farmers to grow garlic sprouts. As a result, although the harvest was good, a large amount of garlic sprouts could not be sold. Thousands of angry farmers in Cangshan County drove tractors and pushed carts into the county government compound, dumping unsellable garlic into a mountain. This is the "Cangshan Garlic Moss Incident" that shocked the whole country.
