Huangqiao campaign, a typical battle of winning more with less. It is one of the most famous battles since the adaptation of the New Fourth Army. The reason is that after the first anti-* * climax was repelled in the spring of 1940, the Kuomintang ordered a massive attack on the New Fourth Army in Central China. Han Deqin, member of the Kuomintang Central Committee and chairman of Jiangsu Province, has more than 30,000 troops, attempting to assemble more than 7,000 people (including more than 4,000 combat troops) in Huangqiao area.

In the battle of Huangqiao, the New Fourth Army faced the enemy with absolute superiority and lured the enemy deeper. After a night of fierce fighting, the 89th Army of Han Deqin was completely annihilated, and Li Shouwei, the commander of the 89th Army, fell into the water and died. Most of the 349 Brigade was annihilated, and Han Deqin led thousands of people to Xinghua. In order to expand the results, the New Fourth Army pursued the rest of Han Deqin and occupied Haian. After the New Fourth Army arrived in Dongtai, it stopped pursuing on the same day and voluntarily ended the decisive battle on the principle of "avoiding losses".
