Hibiscus cultivation mainly adopts cutting method, but also can adopt sowing and branching method.
1. Cutting culture
Hardwood cutting and softwood cutting can be used. Hardwood cutting has the highest survival rate and the most common application, which is usually carried out in March. Cut 1 year-old stout branches into 15 ~ 20 cm long cuttings and insert them into the seedbed (the seedbed soil can be plain soil without applying base fertilizer). In principle, the cutting depth should ensure that the upper end of cuttings is basically flush with the ground. The cutting density is 15× 30cm. About 22 plants per square meter. Water after insertion, preferably covered with plastic film, to keep moisture and raise the temperature. Generally 15 ~ 20 days can take root and sprout, and it can grow about lm in that year. Softwood cutting should be carried out in rainy season. Select the new semi-lignified branches of that year, cut them into cuttings with the length of 10 ~ 15 cm, keep the upper leaves of 1/3, and insert them into the seedbed 3 ~ 4 cm deep. After transplanting, water should be sprayed frequently to keep the soil moist and shade properly. According to the climatic conditions, take heat preservation and moisture preservation measures, such as spreading a stent covering film and a straw curtain on the seedbed to prevent direct sunlight, check frequently, and take root and sprout in about one month. After the temperature rises, gradually remove the straw curtain and plastic film. The seedlings can grow to about 1 m in the cutting year. Seedlings were raised in the open field and transplanted to a big nursery in the next spring. The big nursery needs to apply base fertilizer, with a compost of about 75,000 Jin per hectare, deep ploughing and harrowing, digging holes, and transplanting seedlings according to the plant spacing of 50×80 cm. When planting, the roots of plants should stretch freely, the soil should be filled, and the roots should be watered, and then every 2 ~ 3 days. After 1 ~ 2 years of cultivation, it can be planted in nursery.
2. Sowing and breeding
Usually in spring and April. It is most suitable to collect seeds from 1 1 to 65438+February after the fruit ripens in June. After harvesting, peel off the seeds and store them at low temperature, and then drill or sow them in April of the following spring.
3. ramet propagation
After defoliation in autumn or before germination in early spring, dig out the sprouting plants in the rhizosphere and plant them separately. Before planting, the roots can be trimmed properly and the aboveground parts can be cut short.
