Source This product is the dried and mature fruit of Psoralea corylifolia L., a leguminous plant. When the fruit is ripe in autumn, the fruit sequence is collected, dried in the sun, and the fruit is rubbed out to remove impurities.

Characteristics This product is kidney-shaped, slightly flat, 3 ~ 5 mm long, 2 ~ 4 mm wide and about 1.5mm thick. The surface is black, dark brown or grayish brown with fine reticular wrinkles. The top is round and blunt, with a small protrusion and a fruit stalk mark on the concave side. Hard. The peel is thin and difficult to separate from the seed; Seeds 1 piece, cotyledons 2, yellow and white, oily. It is fragrant, pungent and slightly bitter.

Identification: Take 0.5g of this product powder, add 20ml of ethyl acetate, ultrasonically treat it for15min, filter it, evaporate the filtrate, and add ethyl acetate 1ml to the residue to make it dissolve, which is used as the test solution. In addition, psoralen and isopsoralen were taken as reference substances, and ethyl acetate was added to prepare a mixed solution containing 2mg each per kloc-0/ml as reference substance solution. A chalcone (psoralen B) in the fruit of Psoralea corylifolia can dilate the coronary vessels of isolated hearts of guinea pigs, rabbits, cats and rats, and its effect is four times that of Lin Qiang, and it can resist the contraction of pituitrin on coronary vessels. However, it has little effect on the total peripheral vascular resistance, indicating that it has high selectivity in dilating coronary arteries. The derivatives of psoralen can increase the blood flow of coronary artery and peripheral blood vessels in dogs. Psoralen B can also strengthen the cardiac contractility of guinea pigs and rats, excite frog hearts, and resist heart failure caused by lactic acid. The increase of myocardial oxygen consumption is not obvious, but the increase of respiratory quotient has little effect on myocardial oxidative phosphorylation, glycogen and lactic acid, so it does not promote anaerobic metabolism in myocardium. Slow administration has low toxicity.

Psoralea corylifolia seed extract has bacteriostatic effect on staphylococcus and staphylococcus resistant to penicillin and other antibiotics in vitro.
