Introduction of I.M. Pei

Ieoh Ming Pei (April 26, 1917-May 16, 219), male, was born in Guangzhou, China, and his ancestral home is Suzhou. He is a Chinese-American architect after a prominent family in Suzhou.

I.M. Pei went to the United States in 193s and studied architecture at MIT and Harvard University. He has won the gold medal of American Architectural Society in 1979, the gold medal of French Architecture in 1981, the Japanese Imperial Award in 1989, the fifth Pritzker Award in 1983 and the Freedom Medal awarded by President Reagan in 1986, and is known as the "last master of modern architecture".

I.M. Pei's works are mainly public buildings, cultural and educational buildings, which are classified as modernist buildings, making good use of steel, concrete, glass and stone. His representative works include the expansion project of the Louvre in Paris, the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, and the new Suzhou Museum.

Introduction of representative works:

1. The Pyramide du Louvre is located in the main courtyard of the Louvre in Paris. It is a huge pyramid made of glass and metal and surrounded by three smaller pyramids.

As the main entrance of the Louvre Museum, the Great Pyramid was designed by Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei and completed in 1989. It has become a city landmark in Paris.
