Mid-Autumn Festival Poems Classical Poetry English
The following is the English version of Silent Night Thinking:

Thoughts on a Quiet Night

Moonlight before my bed,

Bleak and chilly,

Afar, a solitary lamp

Dangles, the lonely eye of the city.

Gazing at the bright disk,

Distracted, I pillow my head

And fall to idly speculating

On the pure and chaste solitude.

It’s a day without a single cloud,

The Milky Way, a clear stream;

The autumn wind, a gentle breeze,

The moonlight, a sheet of ice.

The lamp casts my lonely shadow

On the still and peaceful ground;

The bedspread is a world of peace,

A world without strife or sound.

The city’s hubbub is far away,

The world’s dust is not in sight;

The ghosts and immortals may roam

And sport at will. The still and wise of the land

Will take my thoughts. My simple soul

Wanders alone without a home;

Away from the world’s scene of strife,

I gaze at the frosty moonlight.

Mid-autumn festival culture

1, Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional cultural festival popular among many ethnic groups in China, so it is named because it is just half the value of Sanqiu. It is said that the moon is the biggest, roundest and brightest this night.

2. Since ancient times, people have had the custom of feasting and enjoying the moon on the Mid-Autumn Festival night. The daughter-in-law who returns to her parents' house will return to her husband's house every day to show her perfection and auspicious celebration. It originated in ancient times, popularized in the Han Dynasty, shaped in the early years of the Tang Dynasty, prevailed after the Song Dynasty, and was called the four traditional festivals in China together with the Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Dragon Boat Festival.
