The development history of the English major is much shorter than that of the Russian major. In 1965, when Premier Zhou Enlai came to Xinjiang to inspect work, he instructed Xinjiang University to open English, Arabic, Urdu and other foreign language majors. Subsequently, a group of teachers of the above languages ??were transferred from brother universities in Beijing and other places. However, due to the interference of the Cultural Revolution, Premier Zhou's instructions could not be implemented in time. A few years later, the People's Government of the Autonomous Region decided to first offer an English major in the Department of Foreign Languages ??of Xinjiang University, and successively transferred a group of high-level English teachers from all over Xinjiang.
