Yue Wang E Temple is built by the people of Dongqian Lake to commemorate Yue Fei's father and son. The temple was built during the Ping years of the Southern Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 750 years. The present Wang E Temple was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty and is a well-preserved temple building in Jiangnan. The central axis of the building is divided into three parts: the front hall, the middle hall and the back hall. All the stone couplets and hangings here are original works of the Qing Dynasty, among which the word "Zanhua" was written by Jin Nong, one of the Eight Monsters of Yangzhou.
To the southeast of Mozhiyan, there is an island in the shape of a watermelon floating on the surface of Dongqian Lake, called Guayu Island. There is an ancient temple on Guayu Island, surrounded by green trees and red walls, called Watermelon Temple. The god of Watermelon Temple is mighty, strong and strict. He is the national hero Yue Fei.
Legend has it that after the death of Yue Fei's father and son, two watermelons appeared, one floated on the West Lake, one grew to Yinxian Dongqian Lake. Chancellor Shi Hao of North Korea knew, went to the court to report to the emperor, for Yue Fei vindication. After the rehabilitation, the two watermelons turned into two mounds. In honor of Yue Fei, Hangzhou people built a Wang Yue temple on the hillock of West Lake. In honor of Yue Fei, the people of Yin County built a Wang E Temple on a mound of dirt at Dongqian Lake.
The temple was built during the Ping Dynasty of the Southern Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 750 years. Now the Yue Wang E Temple scenic spot also includes Lakeside Park and Wang Anshi Park.
The scenic spot has opened a lakeside barbecue base by taking advantage of the convenient transportation conditions near the lake, and introduced a number of new barbecue utensils, which has attracted a large number of tourists.
The attraction has been an open park since July 2007 with free admission.
