. Later, I became interested in classical literature, which was not unrelated to the foundation laid by middle school.

I was admitted to Wuhan Normal University (now Hubei University) in 1977. There is a big age gap among my classmates in the same grade. There are more students in the third grade, and my knowledge base is stronger than that of our younger classmates. Especially in the touch-up exam shortly after I went to college, I failed in the exam and felt a little inferior. In retrospect, inferiority is not a bad psychology, and pride is more terrible than inferiority. I feel inferior because I know that I am insufficient, and then I will be angry and strive to surpass myself and others. When I was in college, I was really hungry for reading. At that time, I didn't expect to embark on the road of learning in the future. I just felt that my grades were not as good as those of others, and the school I attended was not a famous brand. I always wanted to catch up with my classmates with better grades and those who were admitted to famous universities to get rid of my inferiority. I feel that the foundation of classical literature is a little better, so I focus on classical literature.

I started reciting classical literature every day when I was a freshman. First, follow the teacher, tell a lesson and recite a lesson. Because you recite it faster, you recite it "ahead of time". After reciting the works in the textbook, recite other selected books. I adopt the method of repeated memorization. On the basis of understanding the meaning of the work, recite it once every morning, recite it again when walking after dinner, memorize it again before going to sleep at night, and recite it again when exercising and running the next morning. A week later, review and recite all the works recited this week, and a month later, repeat all the contents recited this month. In this way, a work is not easy to forget after reciting it three or four times a day and reviewing it in a week or a month.

As far as reciting skills are concerned, our generation of young scholars can't compare with the older generation. Although today's computers can quickly retrieve relevant information, they cannot replace people's memory. Especially in the study of classical literature, it is difficult to improve one's artistic perception and judgment ability without storing some excellent works in one's mind. Creation is often based on association, and association often comes from memory. It's not enough to make new discoveries and original ideas about writers' works, just to enhance theoretical cultivation. To analyze and evaluate the quality of a work or a kind of work, there must always be another work or another kind of work as a direct or potential reference. It is not impossible to find reference works temporarily, but it is not as fast as remembering. The most important thing is to remember more, and to be able to associate and discover new problems at any time. The essence of academic research lies in solving problems that have not been solved or solved well by predecessors, and the premise of solving problems is to be good at discovering problems. Memory is the basis of finding problems.

In my freshman and sophomore years, I focused on the pre-Qin literature. Reciting mainly includes The Book of Songs, Songs of the South, essays of various schools of thought and historical essays. I once became interested in ancient Chinese, read some works on philology and phonology, and later found classical literature more interesting. The idea at that time was very simple. Even if you can't learn in the future and study classical literature, you can entertain yourself. In fact, as long as you are interested, you can enjoy doing any learning. During this period of time, I focused on the study of pre-Qin literature and ancient Chinese, which laid a good writing foundation for my later study of Tang and Song literature.

in my junior year, I began to learn to write papers. At that time, it happened that academic circles were discussing frontier poems in Tang Dynasty, so I tried to write an article on frontier poems. Although the article failed to reach the level of publication, it was strongly encouraged and praised by the teacher Professor Zhang Guoguang, and the self-confidence was greatly increased, and the focus of learning began to shift to the literature of Tang and Song Dynasties.

I started my academic research with Zhang Yuangan, a poet in Southern Song Dynasty. I'm used to the "comparative" reading method, that is, reading several books at the same time to see what different views the academic circles have on a particular topic or the study of a writer's works. In reading, I found that there are different opinions about Zhang Yuangan's birth and death year and native place in the works and anthology of literary history, so I want to explore which one is in line with the reality. After reading Zhang Yuangan's "The Return of Luchuan", it is found that Zhang Yuangan's works with clear chronology have clearly mentioned his age, and it is not difficult to determine his birth year. So I want to further understand Zhang Yuangan's life story. Originally, as early as 1961s, Mr. Cao Jiping had written a textual research article about the date of birth and death of Zhang Yuangan, but when I was studying, I didn't know how to find papers, only knew how to look for books in the library. However, for myself, the "ignorance" at that time triggered my interest in studying Zhang Yuangan in depth. Otherwise, knowing that someone had solved the problem, I might not think again. On the basis of finding out Zhang Yuangan's birth year, I wrote a textual research on Zhang Yuangan's life story as my undergraduate thesis. Although the article has clarified some problems in Zhang Yuangan's life, there are still many doubts that have not been solved. The materials on which the article is based are mainly Zhang Yuangan's own works and common history books. Reading books is very limited, and some problems can't be solved naturally.

After graduating from college, I stayed in school to teach and continue to collect materials about Zhang Yuangan. Three years later, I was admitted to the master's degree of Professor Zeng Zhaomin. Zeng Shi is not only good at the creation of classical poems, but also good at appreciation and analysis. He has deep attainments in philology, archaeology and edition collation, and he exerted more efforts on Wen, Wei and Feng Ci in the Tang and Five Dynasties. So I decided to take Tang and Song Ci as the main direction and Zhang Yuangan as the breakthrough. Under the guidance of Zeng Shi, I extensively read dozens of anthologies of poems and poems and a large number of historical books written by Zhang Yuangan, and found many materials that had not been noticed by previous scholars, thus writing a master's degree thesis "Chronicle of Zhang Yuangan" and accumulating some historical materials of Nandu poets at the same time as Zhang Yuangan.

In February, 1986, I attended the second national symposium on Ci with Mr. Zhao Min, Zeng Shi, and submitted a conference paper on Wang Yining and His Ci. Because Wang Yining's Ci was rarely mentioned, and his life story was even less known, this paper was first praised by Mr. Shi Zhecun and published in the first part of Ci edited by him. This is a great encouragement for me, a young scholar who just came out of the grass. At this seminar, I learned that Mr. Tang Guizhang, a master of Ci, would recruit the second doctoral student. Teacher Zeng Zhaomin decided to let me graduate with a master's degree one year ahead of schedule and apply for Mr. Tang's doctoral degree. If getting a postdoctoral degree is a fundamental turning point on my way to study, then it is the key that Zeng Shi asked me to graduate one year ahead of schedule, which enabled me to seize a rare opportunity in my life, and the Ci Society in Shanghai is an important opportunity.

Before applying for the doctor's degree, I have decided to take learning as the main way to realize my life value, and to pursue the high realm and high taste of learning as my goal in life. During my master's degree, although I have laid a certain foundation in literature, my way of thinking can't get rid of the original frame, so I want to get a doctorate to continue my studies in order to surpass myself.

After some hard work, I finally got my wish, and I was admitted to the school of Mr. Tang Shizhuizhang to study for a blog, which opened my eyes.

In terms of reading methods, Teacher Tang instructed me to pay attention to reading vertically and horizontally. For example, he said, "When you study Zhang Yuangan, you should not only read the anthologies of various writers at the same time as Zhang Yuangan, but also read the anthologies of writers before and after Zhang Yuangan." From this, I realize that to really study a writer thoroughly, we should not only be familiar with the writers at the same time, but also understand the writers before and after him, or that to study a writer, we must understand a group of writers and even generations of writers. Although this workload is relatively large, only in this way can the origin and evolution, artistic personality and contribution status of writers' works be truly clarified. To study literature, we can't just read literature, but also read books in the history department and the sub-department, so as to fully grasp the information needed for studying literature. So I concentrated on reading some anthologies of writers behind Zhang Yuangan, and some books of history department and sub-department, and obtained some new historical materials. I revised Zhang Yuangan's Chronicle, which was recommended by Tang teachers and officially published by Nanjing Publishing House in 1989.

I used to spend a little more time on literature textual research, but my speculative ability and theoretical analysis were poor, so I was often troubled by it. I once thought that I would only engage in textual research and collation of documents and materials in the future. After learning my thoughts, Tang Shi encouraged me to say, "You young people should not foster strengths and avoid weaknesses, but complement each other. Since we know our own shortcomings, we should try to make up for them. " In order to improve my theoretical thinking ability, I have carefully read some original western philosophies. But reading Marx's German Ideology and 1844 Manuscripts of Political Economy gained more. When reading the Manuscript, I sometimes read only one or two pages in half a day, carefully pondering the original argumentation ideas and methods, trying to understand and grasp from which angles and levels a problem is analyzed. After eating this book, my speculative ability has been greatly improved unconsciously. Since then, my interest in philosophy has also been aroused. Whenever my literary thoughts are exhausted, I can always find a new breakthrough or new idea by reading philosophical works. So I deeply understand that philosophy is a knowledge that makes people smart, gives people wisdom and gives people ideas.

besides benefiting from the specific guidance of Tang Shi, I also pay more attention to extensively absorbing the research methods of other scholars and teachers inside and outside the school. For example, I also took the initiative to take the course of ancient literary theory taught by Mr. Wu Diaogong to graduate students in our school. In the class, he also talked about the "comparative reading method", and let us compare and read Wellek's and Warren's Literary Theory and China's classic literary theory "Wen Xin Diao Long". After class, I carefully read these two famous books, and compared their similarities and differences from the perspectives of literary history and literary research methods. Although I didn't write a paper, I learned and understood the theoretical spirit of these two famous books and increased my literary theory accomplishment.

Another example is Mr. Shen Yucheng from the Institute of Literature, China Academy of Social Sciences, who is dead. In a chat, he said that Mr. Fu Xuanyan from Zhonghua Book Company used the method of "sweeping the net". Every time he read a book, he wrote down all the materials that he needed and might be useful, so as to avoid going through a book repeatedly for different research topics. I also tried hard to use this method of reading, and it really worked well. While I continue to collect Zhang Yuangan's research materials, all the materials about other poets are also collected. Earlier, I wrote Zhang Yuangan's Chronicle with 151,111 words, and it took six years before and after collecting materials. The 411,111 Chronicle of Poets in the Song Dynasty (Taipei Wenjin Publishing House, 1994 edition) only took more than a year from collecting materials for it to writing it. I am reading several voluminous works, such as Xu Mengshen's Compilation of Three Dynasties' North Alliance, Li Xinchuan's Compilation of Years Since the Establishment of Inflammation, Wang Chang's Compilation of Jinshi, and Lu Zengxiang's Correction of Eight Qiongshi's Jinshi. While collecting information about the life stories of poets in the Song Dynasty, I also pay attention to collecting information related to many topics that I could think of at that time, and compile the subject index and name index of these works by myself. This provided great convenience for later writing the doctoral thesis "A Study of Poets in Songnandu" (Taipei Wenjin Publishing House, 1992 edition). A series of papers written on the eve of doctor's graduation, a lot of original materials are collected with other materials, and there is no special reference for this topic.

For an explorer who is new to the school, how to write a paper, how to control and use the materials, and from what angles to cut in and demonstrate with ideas and materials? It is also a rather troublesome problem. I used to feel confused and confused about it. Once, Professor Chen Yixin from the Chinese Department of Peking University once talked about his post-graduate studies, and often used his articles to polish his ideas and methods in writing, and discussed and verified them with him. I was also greatly inspired by it. To practice calligraphy, there is a process of copying inscriptions. Only after mastering the basic norms of brush strokes and layout can we seek changes. The same is true for writing articles. However, the copying of writing articles is to imitate the writing skills and methods of former sages, rather than following their views and materials. I once spent a month intensively studying the works of a group of famous scholars, such as Tang Guizhang's Essays on Ci Poetry, Cheng Qianfan's Textual Research on Ancient Poetry, Wu Diaogong's Research on Li Shangyin, Chen Yixin's Essays on Tang Poetry, Fu Xuancong's Imperial Examination and Literature in Tang Dynasty and Li Deyu Chronicle, and Yuan Xingpei. Since then, I have broadened my research horizons and improved my writing ability. My doctoral thesis is inspired by the works of previous scholars in terms of writing structure. The doctoral thesis is divided into three parts: upper, middle and lower, which discusses the development and evolution of Song Nandu's ci circles from different angles. The first part is to discuss the group activities and group consciousness of Nandu poets. The research in this field has not been paid much attention by predecessors, and it needs a lot of original materials to prove it. However, the whole paper is theoretical and analytical, and too many citations of original materials will affect the fluency of writing. I was inspired by Mr. Chen Yixin's works, that is, I put the relevant argumentation materials into the notes, and the text only gave conclusive opinions. This ensures that the style of the last article is consistent with that of the middle and next articles, and it is also concise and smooth to read.

from copying to breaking through, we need to learn from and understand. Copying is to break through and surpass. To break through and surpass, we can't just confine ourselves to the theories and methods of this discipline, but we must learn from the theories and methods of other neighboring disciplines and integrate them with the original theoretical methods of this discipline, so as to form our own academic personality, open up new research topics or put forward new opinions. During my PhD, I dabbled extensively in literary sociology, reception aesthetics, communication, philosophy of science, narratology, psychology and other theoretical works, which enriched my theoretical accomplishment.

from the theory of literary sociology, I have borrowed some theories and methods of studying writers' generation groups. In the doctoral thesis, according to the process of changing generations of poets in the Song Dynasty, the Song Ci was divided into new stages. Professor Cui Haizheng of Jinan University's "A Brief Introduction to the Research on the Staging of Song Ci", after reviewing the research results on the staging of Song Ci for decades, thinks that my opinion on the staging of Song Ci is put forward.
