According to the calculation of relevant departments, the average person in Taiyuan produces about 1.2 kg of domestic garbage every day, and the total amount of domestic garbage produced in the city every day is about 2300 tons. These rubbish have been landfilled for many years.

In 2000, the only three large-scale municipal solid waste landfills in Taiyuan, namely Shanzhuangtou, Dongshan Xingou and Hexi Shele, have reached the capacity limit, and it is urgent to find new ways to treat municipal solid waste.

Faced with the hidden danger that landfill will pollute the environment, domestic and foreign countries have begun to try to burn garbage, and many cities in China have also begun to build garbage incineration power plants.

In June, 2000, Taiyuan City began to build a garbage incineration power plant, which was built on the former site of the brick factory in Xingou Village, Haozhuang Township, covering an area of 9 1.67 mu.

In June 2004, Dongshan Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant was fully started. After trial operation, it was officially put into operation on June 5438+ 10, 2007. It is the largest waste incineration power generation device of its kind in China at present.

After the garbage power plant was put into operation, it "ate" about 1 000 tons of municipal solid waste every day, accounting for about 50% of the daily domestic waste, which greatly eased the pressure of municipal solid waste treatment. At the same time, every time 1 ton of garbage is burned, it can generate about 20 degrees of electricity, and it can generate 6,543.8 billion degrees of electricity a year.

The flue gas generated in the process of incineration power generation can meet the national emission standards after purification and filtration, and can be directly discharged into the atmosphere; After preliminary treatment, the generated sewage is discharged into the sewage treatment plant through a special sealed pipeline for further treatment; The generated ash is buried in the nearby mountains and can be used as road cushion and building materials in the future. In addition, the volume of incinerated garbage can be reduced to 10% to 25%, and the weight is only about 20% of the original, which can greatly save the increasingly tense land resources.

According to the calculation, the cost of the whole project of Dongshan Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant will be recovered within 10 years. According to the design, Dongshan Domestic Waste Incineration Power Plant can recycle garbage and generate electricity for 30 years without changing equipment.
