The hooping spell first appeared in The Journey to the West, one of China's four major literary novels. The Tang Priest's spell of subduing the Monkey King can make the Monkey King's head tighten and his headache crack. Later used to describe things that bind people.
The Journey to the West Wu Ming gave his eighth reply: "The Tathagata took out three more hoops and gave them to the Bodhisattva:" This treasure is called Tight Hoops. Although they are the same three, they are just different. I have three spells forbidden by gold.
If you meet a fierce demon on the road, you must persuade him to study hard and become an apprentice with the monk. If he doesn't bow his head, he can put this hoop on his head and naturally see the meat take root and sprout. Read each one according to the spell he uses. His eyes are swollen and his head is cracked. Discipline him to come to our door. "

In The Journey to the West, the Monkey King is regarded as the embodiment of justice, but sometimes he is defiant. After making a scene in the Heavenly Palace, he was slapped by the Tathagata and trapped by Wuxing Mountain. At first, the Monkey King violently resisted, and the mountain was knocked down by the Monkey King. The small patrol official quickly reported to the Tathagata: "No, that mountain is going to be overturned.
"Tathagata responded, saying:" It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. "I saw the Buddha take out a pillar from his sleeve. There are six gold words written on it: "Jue Jue, Jue, Jue, Jue, Jue Jue". The Tathagata handed the post to the patrol officer and asked him to post it on the five elements. The Monkey King's resistance didn't work after the little official put a sticker on it.
500 years later, the Tang Priest went to Wuxing Mountain to save the Monkey King, and the master and the apprentice began a journey to learn from the West. But after being trapped in Wuxing Mountain for 500 years, the Monkey King is still unrepentant. Knowing this, Guanyin Bodhisattva turned the tight hoop handed to her by the Tathagata into a beautiful hat and gave it to the Tang Priest.
He also said to the Tang Priest: "I still have a mantra there, which is called' the truth of my heart' and' the magic spell'. You should learn it by heart. Don't let others know. " The Monkey King listened to the words of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and from then on, he was more careful to protect Master.
He recalled being suppressed by the Tathagata Buddha for 500 years. It turned out that it was not the power of the mountain, but because there was a spell on the mountain, "Mo, Ma, Mo, Ba, Mi, Mi", which suppressed him. These six-character spells are the same as those used by Tang Priest.
