The town covers an area of 153.27 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over 29 village committees, 1 community neighborhood committee and 247 natural villages. At the end of 2008, the population was 152306, with a total of 33846 households, including agricultural population 138557. Located in the lower reaches of Jianjiang River, the terrain is high in the northeast and low in the southwest. The terrain is mainly plain, with a few hills. The east is the west coast plain in the lower reaches of Jianjiang River, and the west is the platform of Beihai Formation-Zhanjiang Formation. Geology is river alluvial soil, which is mainly composed of sandy mud and yellow soil. Except the wharf and floodplain are filled with 3-6 meters thick soil, the geology of other areas is generally silt with 2 meters of topsoil. There are 64,588 mu of cultivated land, including 37,760 mu of paddy fields, 30,000 mu of northern vegetable planting bases, 3,600 mu of banana planting bases, 9,600 mu of high-quality and high-yield sweet potato planting bases, 600 mu of flowers, lawns and landscape trees planting bases, and 570 mu of burdock planting bases, with a per capita cultivated land area of 0.42 mu. The coastline is 12km long, the coastal beach is nearly 10,000 mu, and the seawater and freshwater culture area is 1.6 1.85 mu. In 2008, the total output of aquatic products was 8702 tons. The main products are Penaeus vannamei, Silurus japonicus, Carassius auratus, oysters and tilapia. Native products mainly include Huangpi garlic, raccoon dog juice and tilapia juice.
