Songpan County belongs to Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, which is located in the northeast of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. The county covers an area of 8,486 square kilometers, governs 2 towns and 23 townships, and has a total population of 74 166(20 10), consisting of 22 ethnic groups. The county seat is 335 kilometers south of Chengdu.
