Second, do not eat dog meat. What is this? Dogs are synonymous with loyalty. They can look after the house and graze for their owners. Therefore, it is really inappropriate to kill and eat meat, which violates the belief of loyalty. So they are grateful for the loyalty of dogs, and Taoism does not eat dog meat.
Third, don't eat wild goose. This is rare in modern times, but it was common in ancient times. So why doesn't Taoism eat goose? Taoism believes that geese are a symbol of chastity, and geese are absolutely monogamous. One of the geese couples dies, and his partner will never marry and fly alone forever, so Taoism feels guilty about his chastity and refuses to eat.
Fourth, don't eat mullet roe. Taoism believes that mullet roe is a symbol of filial piety. Why is this? Because the mother of mullet will be very weak after laying eggs and may die at any time. At this time, the mullet will automatically swim to the mother's mouth and let her eat herself and maintain her life. Therefore, Taoism feels filial and does not eat.
So these are the only four kinds of Taoism that don't eat? Of course not. Taoism does not approve of big fish and big meat, nor does it eat all kinds of delicacies. Why?
First, delicacies are spiritual, such as snakes, pangolins and so on. If we kill too much, it's easy to arouse their disgust. In religion, they are a part of karma, which will inevitably lead to unfavorable situations.
Secondly, it is difficult for us to know which viruses and parasites exist in delicacies. If some very troublesome viruses and parasites invade the body, it will be a disaster.
Third, the aim of Taoism is to live forever and be noble, so killing life is against the purpose.
So what can Taoism eat? Liang Daochang's own habit is poultry, such as chickens and ducks. Some people say, isn't this also the cause of killing? It's true, as long as Liang Daochang admits, but at least poultry is more suitable than those natural creatures.
