The origin of words
Historically, English has been absorbing words from other countries, and almost half of the existing words were not first invented by English speakers. For example, the altar and jury are legal and religious concepts brought by the Romans and the French, as well as the influx of foreign foods, such as spaghetti and Indian curry, and words that can express complex feelings and feelings better than English, such as Maggie Simo and gloating.
